#WalkToTheWell
Millions of women walk for hours every day, just to collect water. But how far would you go?
Partnering with VCCP, we created the longest Twitter thread ever made, challenging people to scroll through one woman’s 9km walk to the well and back.
How it works
We built and stitched together thousands of Tweets documenting Ann’s daily walk to collect water. Taking people from her house and on a gruelling journey through physical threats and mental struggles to where she collects water.
The thread will take an hour to scroll through and many people won’t be able to complete it.
When people give up scrolling, they can like the Tweet at the point they’ve reached which will trigger an auto-reply showing the distance they’ve walked.
To create the film and images, Just a Drop and VCCP used a drone to capture Ann’s 9km walk, accompanied by a beautifully written typographic story. Keeping our scroller’s attention.
Play for real below:
I’m Ann and I have no choice but to walk 9km every single day, just to collect water.
