#WHAMAGEDDON
This year, give it to someone special.
Great Ormond Street Hospital rely on donations to fund their important work. In 2020, fundraising went online-only as volunteers were unable to collect on Britain's streets.
We partnered with #Whamagedddon, the social game where the aim is to go as long as possible without hearing Wham’s iconic song ‘Last Christmas’.
This year, to save us from tears, we announced a new rule: If you get ‘Whammed’, donate to GOSH and they’ll give it to someone special… special… special…
People instantly embraced the idea:
With a budget of just 10k, the campaign over performed and far exceeded expectations:
🎁 It was the charity’s most successful Twitter campaign in their history.
❤️ The partnership announcement was @GOSHCharity’s most engaged with Tweet of all time.
🔄 GOSH gained a 200% increase in social donation conversion rates.
💰 We helped drive a 25% YOY increase in donations.
📻 Dave Berry made GOSH the unofficial sponsor of his breakfast show on Absolute Radio (FOR FREE) with a daily segment dedicated to #Whamageddon - he even voiced the case study video for us.
📈 To top it all off, Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ even made it to Xmas No.1 for the first time after the original release in 1984.
I am delighted, somewhat amazed & profoundly pleased that WHAM!’s iconic Christmas classic Last Christmas has finally achieved the accolade of becoming a No 1. It’s a fitting tribute 2 George’s songwriting genius and 1 of which he would’ve been immensely proud & utterly thrilled.

We’re proud to say that ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham! is officially number 1 in the UK @officialcharts this week for the very first time!

It’s been an incredible 36 years since the track was first released in 1984 and we want to say a huge thank you to each and every one of you ❤ pic.twitter.com/1vvhRxZcO4
